Deep Blue

I did this illustration in 2019 inspired by the amazing pictures taken in Hawaii of one of the biggest Great White Sharks ever captured on camera: Deep Blue.
I am in complete awe of these animals. And that is because, in spite of their undeniable power and dexterity as apex predators of the oceans, they also possess remarkable intelligence, and a surprising, tender curiosity when approached knowingly and respectfully. They are not at all the mindless, bloodthirsty monsters portrayed in movies and sensationalist media.
